I found the song "Shambhala" on YOUTUBE (see below). They sang about that Shambhala is a mythological world, said to be hidden behind the snow covered peaks of the Himalayas. I packed my bags and went to search if this mythological world of Shambhala really exists.

My journey to discover this world was fruitless, but I returned an even more enlightened being with the knowledge I gained from very wise people living a simple life in the mountains of the Himalayas.

The biggest secret they shared with me is that Shambhala does not exist as a physical place. Shambhala is in your heart, if you have the peace, the love and the tranquility in your heart and soul. If you live the enlightened life, you are living in Shambhala.

In my next post I'll share with you the knowledge on how you can live in Shambhala where ever you are in the world.

Have a blessed day.

Live an Enlightened Life in modern society

Firstly we have define "Modern Society". font-family:"Times New Roman";} <![endif]-->
As I discussed with you in an earlier post, the first step to enlightenment is meditation. In this post you’ll be introduced to meditation, your preparation for meditation and how to practice meditation. We will start with a very basic form of meditation, and as we grow in our self-discovery and enlightenment, we will gradually progress to more specific form of meditation, eg. Connecting with your natural goodness, for compassion, for love, for happiness, for every principal of the Kavi Samaaja Society.

Before you can start on this sacred patch to an enlightened life, you need to learn how to meditate. First you need to do your preparation for meditation.

Find a <st1:street style="font-weight: bold;"><st1:address>Special Place</st1:address></st1:street>

Find a place that you only will use for your meditation sessions. Setting aside a corner in your bedroom is a good place to start. Put a low table against the wall and cover it with a clean, light cloth. Place a candle on the table and fresh flowers. I recommend to also light incense. Peaceful music is also highly recommended, play it on the background during your meditation session. The combination of these items will create a meditative atmosphere.

Prepare Physically

Your spiritual awakening takes place through your body. Take a bath or shower before meditating, or at least just wash your face and hands. Wear clean, loose fitting clothes and take your shoes off.

Time

The best time to meditate, is early in the morning, before you start your daily activities. By doing this, the peace you get from meditation will permeate the rest of your day.

Complete all the preparations as discussed above and then the next morning start with your first meditation session.

Meditation – First Lesson

Sit on a cushion on the floor, with the candle and flower at eye level, about <st1:metricconverter productid="1 meter">1 meter</st1:metricconverter> away from you. Turn your peaceful music on, light the incense and light the candle.

Fix your gaze on the flame, slowly breath the peaceful light in and on exhale let go of the darkness in your heart, all your concerns and fears. Repeat this breathing exercise until you enter a complete relaxed state of mind.

Imagine the flame to be the doorway to your spiritual world. Don’t look at the flame, but look beyond it, let your heart absorb the light. Breathe in the spiritual peace and exhale the darkness in your heart. Don’t worry about other thoughts, they will enter your mind, just refocus on the flame, the doorway to a peaceful universe. All the time taking deeper and longer breaths.

Don’t think of the past or the future, it’s only now – with you entering the doorway to a peaceful universe. Close your eyes and see the candle light in your heart. See how the flame melts away your fears and concerns. See how the flame spreads though your whole body, melting away all impurities. Feel how the flame fills your heart with love and peace.

Slowly open your eyes and fix your gaze on the flame again. In this post I’ll enlighten you about Shambhala.

The Shambhala view is that every human being has a fundamental nature of goodness, warmth and compassion. Shambhala can be cultivated through meditation, following sacred principles and can further be incorporated into our daily life. Also, that the Shambhala energy within you will radiate out to family, friends, your community and society.

Unfortunately, during the course of our life, starting at early childhood, our nature of goodness, warmth and compassion become covered with doubt, fear, greed and egotism. The result of this man-made conditioning is, that we accept it as the ultimate truth. The journey to becoming an enlightened human being, means seeing through the fear, greed and egotism, and waking up to our authentic self.

The journey of awakening is known as the path of the warrior, as it requires the simple bravery to look directly at one’s own mind and heart. The tool to use for this is mindfulness meditation. Through meditation you will discover your natural goodness, compassion and intelligence. (Take a look at my previous post on Meditation)

As you continue on the Shambhala path, you will learn many other practices, to help you break through the crust of egotism and awaken to the joy of enlightened living. Awakening to discover the world to be naturally sacred, pure and full of beauty. We begin to see the goodness and wisdom of others, and to feel compassion to help them.

Shambhala is an expression of the spiritual journey for our time. Teaching us how to live in the secular world with courage and compassion. Following Shambhala, we reclaim our natural birthright of wisdom and compassion, and work with others to bring about the best in human society.

In essence, the emphasis of the Shambhala path is to help us attain enlightenment and create and maintain a good society.

In my next post I will explore the practices of Shambhala.

First Step to Enlightenment - Meditation

The path to enlightenment is an exploration of yourself and who you are. The first step to enlightenment is through meditation. Meditation is the sacred practice to take you to that state in which you get in touch which your feelings and belief with something greater. It will enable you to break away from your state of being.

You will find that meditation is about that search for enlightenment and the path towards this thing we call ascension. You will feel sensations and experiences you never expected, it will also open up your ability to change your own life.

Meditation is the facilitator in helping you reach inside of you.Without meditation you can not reach to your inner soul to explore your inner self. Essentially, to break the bounds we have with the physical world.

Meditation is very sacred and should only be practiced by yourself, without other people around you, meditation is time you allow for yourself. If you don't know where to start, or don't know how to meditate visit the following website : http://meditation.org.au/

They offer a free online course in meditation plus give you advice on how to make your meditation session an enriching experience.

The journey to an Enlightened Society

What is Kavi Samaaja? Directly translated, it means “Enlightened Society”.
We all are living a life of suffering. We live a painful life, caused by
the cancer of modern society, caused by greed, materialistic
accumulations, status, caused by what was instilled in us from
childhood, to be successful and to be a winner.

Three years ago I embarked on my journey, a sabbatical , to
discover the true meaning of a blissful life, a life with purpose,
a life worth living. My journey is not complete yet, but I want
to invite you to join Kavi Samaaja, join me on this journey of
self discovery, a journey of cleansing us from all impurities, a
journey to make you whole again.

I want to share the knowledge I gained thus far with you, I want
to inform you about my learnings. I also want you to share your
life experiences with the Enlightened Society. By sharing our
knowledge, experiences and suffering in life, we will enrich each
other’s lives and practice the age old teachings of
“Shambhala and Nirvana”, the road to an Enlightened Life.

I appreciate your participation from the bottom of my heart and welcome you abort our journey to an Enlightened Society.

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v21.nonxt2.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3D68b0f0095e48e141%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331432449%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D4BDC783EF25361244C220DDD8B6980F281AFE307.668E9C67EED683EA835B23B2083117BFD0AF816B%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3D68b0f0095e48e141%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3D3L1wveQWvdbksMOghr33xq11D9I&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />
